DTG (Direct-To-Garment)

What is DTG?

Direct-to-garment printing on fabric using specialized aqueous ink jet technology. It is a digital process that is able to accurately reproduce a sharper and a higher resolution than traditional printing like screen printing.

Pros & Cons of DTG

Pros
  • Fast turnaround times compared to screen printing

  • No set-up fees, it is a good option for small orders

  • It is the best for full-color photographs, designs and art

  • Artwork does not need to be in a vector format or color separated

  • Colors are vibrant and true to the original artwork

Cons
  • 80-100% cotton fabric is suggested for the design to adhere to the garment

  • On dark or black items a white under base is needed for bright colors, without colors will look very subdued, but only increases cost a small amount

  • Cannot be used on items with a high polyester content

Embroidery

What is embroidery?

Embroidery is the art of decorating fabrics using a needle and thread. It is durable and offers a unique and professional look. It is ideal for uniform, work wear or promotional wear that give a personal touch. Embroidery is quick and accurate, thanks to embroidery machines we use. The logo or art work is first digitized and kept on file for future use.

The cost of embroidery is determined by the stitch count, metallic thread is also an increased cost

If you are supplying your own artwork for embroidery, here are some guidelines to follow for the perfect logo:
  • The better the quality of the artwork provided the better the embroidery will look

  • Color matching is possible, if we are unable to match exactly we will get as close to the color as possible

  • File formats that are preferred:

    • .jpg

    • .png

    • .pdf

    • .svg

    • .ai

    • .dst (for embroidery)

  • Embroidery is suited for solid bold logos, but we can help you achieve the look you want

Pros & Cons of Embroidery

Pros
  • High quality look and feel

  • It is extremely long lasting
  • Retains its color very well

  • Multi-colors can be used

  • More durable and much more resistant to any damage from wash cycles

Cons
  • Typically more expensive than printing

  • Not all designs are suited to embroidery. Small and intricate designs, very large designs and gradient designs are best not done in embroidery
